Halloween lovers Converge on San Jose

Halloween lovers of all ages now have their very own gathering, the 3rd Global Halloween Convergence. This two-day event gives folks who cannot get enough of their favorite holiday a chance to hobnob with fellow Halloween fans. An annual gathering, the Convergence is hosted in a different "spooktacular" location each year. The goal is to bring together Halloweenites-folks hopelessly in love with Halloween-to share information, trade ideas and just have a good time! Nome to the bizarre Winchester Mystery House, San Jose provides the quintessential setting for this year’s event, June 1 and 2, 2001 at the DoubleTree Hotel.

The Convergence offers a potpourri of fun, frolic and fright. Jump-starting Friday morning is Show ‘n Scare, where pictures tell the story of how participants celebrate Halloween coast-to-coast. On Friday morning we will hear from legendary Bob Burns who for years, transformed his Burbank, California home into a "Halloween Extravaganza." Bob recruited some of the best and brightest talent in Hollywood to design, build and inhabit a fantasy world that thrilled thousands of Halloween lovers. Saturday afternoon will highlight an in-tandem makeup demonstration from two of the hottest makeup wizards in Hollywood: Todd McIntosh ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and David De Leon ("Angel"). Back by popular demand, John Burton of Theatrical Terror will share an insider's secrets to Ghoulish Party Displays. Other presenters scheduled are Roger Barr (pumpkin carving demonstration), Karl Fields (Making the Transition from Home to Commercial Haunter), Daniel Lapin, Ph.D. (Our Intrigue with the Horror Genre), Oliver Holler (Prop Fabrication), Kathy Marcrum and Sarah Briggs (Charity Haunts), and Leonard Pickel (Cheap Scares).

Friday’s luncheon event will be Halloween Jeopardy, giving Convergence attendees a chance to test their Halloween knowledge. Saturday’s luncheon event will be the first annual Scary Charity Auction, organized by John Burton . Proceeds of the auction will go to a children’s charity.

Friday evening we will take a flashlight tour of the bizarre Winchester Mystery House, a 160 room haunted Victory mansion. Saturday evening we will go out with a bang as we dance the night away at our fright-fully funtastic Costume Party. A ghoul-time will be had by all!
