The International Association of Haunted Attractions (IAHA) has announced that they will endorse TransWorld Exhibits, Inc. in hosting their Owner/Operator Seminar Series slated for March 7th in Chicago. The association will provide an informative talkback session for attendees, led by Vice President “Crazy” Bob Turner, the evening before the seminar. On the day of the seminar, IAHA will host a resource area “Help Desk” for existing and prospective members, and will facilitate a seminar session that will focus on insurance for the industry.
The IAHA Nominating Committee is brewing a strong slate of nominees for the 2002 IAHA Board of Directors. There are up to nine open Board spots (for two-year terms), and three vacancies from current Directors who will not be completing the second year of their terms, (one-year replacement directors for those positions will be appointed by the Board, as directed in the Bylaws). The current 2001 Board will meet on Friday, March 8th, in Chicago. The new 2002 Board will meet on Sunday morning, March 10th, in Chicago.
IAHA has invited everyone, member or not, to stop by their Booth (#3436 & 3438) at the 18th National Halloween, Costume and Party Show at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont/Chicago, IL, March 8-12, 2002.
Once again, TransWorld has asked IAHA to lead out by hosting one of the Early Bird sessions offered during the trade show. A big thank you to member Leslie Hoffman, IAHA’s very own professional stuntwoman, who has agreed to lead a session on safe stunts for Haunted Attractions. Leslie’s free session will be Sunday, March 10th, 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. in Chicago. Don’t miss it!
The IAHA’s Annual Meeting, Fundraiser & Social will be held in Chicago during the trade show on Saturday evening, March 9th. Members and their guests are encouraged to attend. Light snacks and a cash bar will be available, and a fee of $10 will be collected at the door. The agenda includes: Roundtable Discussions, Business Meeting with Annual Report and Board Elections, Fundraising “Casket Basket” Raffle, Live Auction, Special Awards and Social Time to Mix and Mingle with fellow Haunters.
Vendors interested in participating in IAHA’s Discount Vendor Program should contact D’Ann Dagen at ddagen@hangmans.com or (817) 336-2111. This is a great opportunity to receive added exposure to the IAHA membership!
Additions to the IAHA Safety Manual will be out soon. Samples will be on display in Chicago, with all members receiving updated copies April 1st. The IAHA Safety Manual is available to members (first copy free, additional copies $15) and to non-members ($25) by contacting ddagen@hangmans.com or calling the IAHA Toll-Free Hotline at 1-866-462-IAHA (4242).
