Michael Chaille announces that his company, Ghost Ride Productions, is currently refurbishing selected scenes within the Mummy Returns Haunted Attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood. Continuously opened since May of 2001, this walk thru attraction had a peak attendance of over 2000 guests per hour. Changes will involve better animation placement, new animations, room redesign and additional set decorating. Several of the vendors that contributed to this events opening have been asked back for this project enhancement.

Castle Blood announces its new lineup for 2002. There are 2 new additions in the Castle Blood Haunt Couture Costume line! First up is the Death Angel, a female costume which is styled after gothic graveyard statuary. Pair it up with the Crusader also new, which is a design based on the infamous Templar Knights. Prophet Systems Innovations (PSI) received the “Best Exhibit” award at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) annual convention and trade show held last November in Orlando, Florida. Featuring a medieval castle motif, complete with an animated dragon and wizard, castle structure, and actors portraying a knight and a damsel, the 2,000-square-foot booth also included 45 moving triggered theatrical lights, fog and audio effects as well as multiple plasma display screens. Rick Davis announced that The Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts (DAFE) celebrated its first anniversary, appropriately enough, on Halloween. The group which has members across the US and Canada has an interest in the history of amusement park funhouses and the dark rides. In their first year of existence, DAFE has aided in research for a project that will recreate a 1920's era "mirror maze" for the Fort Edmonton Park in Canada, as well as aided in locating cars and track to create a dark ride for a non-profit event in Oklahoma. The group also hosted its first ever event, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Old Mill (tunnel of love) at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, PA.
