So why I am telling you about three different haunted houses in one blog post? Because while they are three independent haunted houses, they all combine in one location at the Texas Scaregrounds.

Texas Scaregrounds is a unique arrangement where three different owners hold their events at the same location. The property is 13 acres and has two very large buildings (probably 45,000 sq feet or so each) along with a wooded area and parking. There is also a hayride, but due to the recent rain, they had to cancel the hayride for tonight.

Because the haunts have different owners, they are unique events and each has their own style, theme and character. The first one I visited was Nightmares Haunted House. It is a large haunted house that features several door choices along the path and you must choose the right door or you are in for a surprise. The haunt featured large scenes and good acting and kept my group on their toes the whole time.

The second haunt was Asylum Haunted House. This haunt is also large and features a variety of scenes and characters. The actors used a little more dialogue than most which I appreciate. Once again, the group was on edge throughout the haunt and we all had a good time.

The last haunt I visited was CHAOS Haunted House which is absolutely huge. The haunt has a large variety of scenes (its called CHAOS after all) that had good detail. There are some larger scenes but they are full of props including a bus in one scene. The group I was with was scared throughout the haunt and the actors did a great job delivering the scares. If you want to learn more about CHAOS and see some more photos, make sure you pick up a copy of Haunted Attraction Magazine Issue #52 (the newest issue).

My thanks to all the owners at The Texas Scaregrounds, especially Shawna for all her help and hospitality. Hopefully you’ll get dry weather and have a great Halloween night!
