Dallas Scaregrounds Haunted Houses, Dallas, TX
October 29th, 2009
The rain wasn’t scheduled to show up until 11pm so I went on over to the Dallas Scaregrounds to check out their show. They have a great event and have been running it successfully for many years so they must be taking care of their customers.
My GPS was on the fritz (I have had no luck with these this trip) but I was able to find the Dallas Scaregrounds thanks to the map on their on website. They have been getting a lot of rain lately but the outdoor portion of the event is on paved parking lot so there was no mud to worry about.
The Dallas Scaregrounds has a lot to do and enjoy when you are there. They have three haunts that you walk through back to back plus they have an outdoor Monster Maze along with other games and concessions. I checked out the Monster Maze first then headed to the indoor haunts.
Dallas Scaregrounds had some different effects or repurposed more standard props in different ways that gave them fresh life. For instance, they had a climbing hallway effect where it felt like you were walking up a ramp but they had just painted the walls to make it feel that way. They also made a jack in the box themselves that look pretty good (I think I have a pic below)
It was a Wednesday night so it wasn’t the busiest night they get, but the actors still put out great effort and made the show fun and scary for the guests. I had a good time and think they did a fine job on the haunts and putting together a fun event. Hope you have a good season.
