On September 19th, I kept the Tour going and visited a couple Haunted Houses in the Louisville, Ky area. The first one I hit, was the Haunted Hotel which is located right in Louisville, Ky and what a great start to the Haunting evening. The Haunted Hotel is located in an old house and has a creepy vibe to it from the street. I think I was one of the first guests of the evening so I got my ticket and waited for a group to go in with – its always more fun going in with other people – particularly if they get scared! Soon a few teenagers got in line and I joined them for the show.

We began with an elevator that was done very well (I later found out from the owner that it was from Frightprops) – the sound the motion and the lighting were all timed perfectly and it made for a enjoyable ride and when combined with the actor inside, provided a great opening and put everyone in the mood for the Haunt.

Because the Haunt is in an old house, the rooms are smaller and the scares more close and intimate and the actors has an intensity about them that was amplified in such a small space. The acting was very good throughout the Haunt and there were a variety of scenes. The shower scene was probably my favorite and I will be talking to the owner, Terry Campbell about stealing that scene for my own haunt some day. I also like how the Haunt had a couple Christmas themed rooms in the middle of it. They were still gory rooms, but the Christmas theme allowed made everyone feel a little more comfortable which caused everyone to lower their guard so the next scare had extra impact.

After leaving the building, we wlaked through a black maze littered with chainsaw actors who took their job seriously! So seriously, they had wood chips flying from attacking the walls.

The Haunted House was so well done, the teenage boys begged me to go first and one buried his head into my back as we walked through – even though his girlfriend was with him – if that doesn’t prove Haunted Hotel puts on a good show, I don’t know what does.

Haunted Hotel was fun, intense, intimate and scary and is a Must See if you are ever in the area.
