Industrial Nightmare Haunted House in Jeffersonville, IN
September 22nd, 2009
After visiting the Haunted Hotel Haunted House in Louisville, I was ready for more Haunt adventures so I drove across the river into Indiana to visit the Industrial Nightmare complex that contains three attractions, Industrial Nightmare, Dementions and Pitch Black. After, the intense fun at Haunted Hotel, Industrial Nightmare had a lot to live up to.
As it turns out, Industrial Nightmare is actually owned by the same person that owns Haunted Hotel – Terry Campbell. I was fortunate enough to have met Terry at the Transworld Haunt and Attractions Show last March so it was good to see him again. Terry is a super nice guy who is very dedicated to putting on a great show. After chatting for a bit, I went on inside to the indoor queue line area which is themed as a Horror Movie Museum and sports some cool props and scenes from classic horror movies. The entrance to Industrial Nightmare has a great looking facade and soon, a group came in and I was ready for Industrial Nightmare.
I have to admit that the entire complex is very large (I think Terry said it was about 60,000 sq feet) and there were so many rooms and scenes that I will not remember them or I won’t tell you the correct location of the scene so I am just going to talk about Dementions and Industrial Nightmare together. As you mght have guessed, Industrial Nightmare has an Industrial flare ot it. Good scenes, and some money was obviously invested into animatronics in this Haunt. I can’t remember all the different props he had but there is quite a collection. A couple scenes I really liked were the swamp scene with lots of water in it had great atmosphere. Another scene featured a Troll from Gore Galore and a skull fountain that was pretty cool.
There were several large claustrophobias too that my group did not like and tried to go through as fast as possible. One of them was in front of a green laser that further disorientated us as we walked through. And I got to see the shower scene from Haunted Hotel authentically replicated here – it is a bit of a signature scene for Terry’s Haunts and he should realize the respect and care that I will show it were I to duplicate it myself…:)
Pitch Black was a dark, dark, dark maze and no, turning right every time does not get you out – Terry made sure of that. Once you get through the black walled maze potion, you come into a cage maze section with fog and lots of actors who are more than happy to mislead you. I didn’t realize how scared the woman in my group was until we got to the cage maze which was a lit brighter than the rest – I hadn’t actually seen her for 15 minutes and she was obviously frightened by this point. Luckily, we made it out a few minutes later!
The three attractions together certainly offer a evening of fun and scares. Terry was a gracious host and works hard to give you a show you’ll enjoy. I was also lucky enough to run into Jim Massie and his crew from Ohio Valley Haunts while I was there – they do their own Tour throughout the area visiting Haunts in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
