Kevin McCurdy’s Skull Island Haunted House
October 5th, 2009
Kevin McCurdy’s Skull Island is a Kevin McCurdy designed Screampark located in a waterpark. The park contains three different attractions along with a variety of live acts such as magicians. The haunts have that unique Kevin McCurdy flavor so of course, I enjoyed them.
I was running late and got to Kevin McCurdy’s Skull Island just before it closed and thankfully, Kevin called ahead and got the staff to stay open for me so I could visit all three attractions in operation. The first Haunt I went through was Zombie Island. Afterwards, I went through Ghost Ship and then finally Dr. Oddley’s Sinister Freak Show.
Each show had quality actors who did more than shout “Boo!” but it wasn’t as theatrical as Kevin McCurdy’s Haunted Mansion; I suspect it was designed for greater attendance. The acting was still good and I enjoyed both the dialogue of key characters as well as the improv done by the guide of Dr. Oddley’s. I’m not suggesting that one of McCurdy’s haunts are better than the other, just pointing out the difference. The actors here did a great job of interacting with the customers.
I wish I had more time at this event because it’s a big one with a couple different live acts going while I was there, but unable to see because I was going through the haunts. I like the combination of attractions and the live acts and would like to see it all while it is open.
I’d like to thank the crew of Skull Island for staying around for me and putting on a great show!
