Psycho 13 Haunted Factory Haunted House, Douglasville, GA
October 21st, 2009
It was now Sunday night in Atlanta, and I had plotted a course to see a couple of Haunts that were open on Sunday. I started at Psycho 13 Haunted Factory which features two different haunts, an indoor walkthrough named The Vampire’s Masquerade and a second one that is an outdoor walkthrough (parking lot, not trail) called Psychophobia Asylum.
When I arrived at Psycho 13 Haunted Factory, I met one of the people responsible for the show, Travis who showed me around before the show started. He also told me how they got hit with a flood earlier in the year and had to rebuild a good portion of the outdoor haunt very quickly for this season. I started out with Vampire’s Masquerade and found a couple of young ladies who were more than happy to have me go first.
The first room of the haunt had a nice greek statue that the haunt had made themselves that looked great. The trend continued and the haunt was full of good scenes and solid props and plenty of scares. There was also a vampire club complete with a vampire go-go dancer. The acting and makeup were both solid. We had a great time and I almost lost my arm from the one girl pulling on it.
The second haunt was asylum themed and had a nice looking facade. This haunt was mostly underwater a while back so they had to replace somewhere around 90 wall panels along with repairing others. Travis mentioned that he got some inspiration from the last HAuNTcon bus tour and borrowed and an idea from Terror on the Fox (remember the last room? He did something similar at the start). The haunt scares you with different phobias and Travis had his phobias down and could name them all – spiders is well known and many know the term for fear of clowns but he also had a room for Rhypophobia (hint: it had a nasty toilet in the room).
I enjoyed the haunt and the two girls I was with had a great time too. I wish Travis and his partner (I think her name is Carrissa but might have that wrong, sorry) a great season and continued growth!
