I was making good time on Saturday night so I went ahead and added a haunt to the schedule – Wicked Woods Haunted Trail. I am glad I did because it’s a fun event with good people working hard to help the local school.

I first met folks from Wicked Woods Haunted Trail at the National Haunters Convention in Valley Forge earlier this year. They have a distinctive logo and there seemed to be a lot of people walking around with it on their clothes. I figured they must really take a lot of pride in their show and decided to try to see them if I ever had the chance.

I got there in the middle of the evening and they were easy to find. They are located in the woods behind Monsignor Slade Catholic School in Glen Burnie. The parents started the event several years ago to help the school – those of you with kids know all about the usual wrapping paper, magazine subscription sales, and other fundraisers your kids get dragged into so I like the idea of the Haunted House.

So Wicked Woods doesn’t have a big budget, but they do have a core group of hardworking folks being creative combined with an energetic group of volunteer actors. The trail was a fun time and had a variety of scenes and even a vortex tunnel. One of my favorite parts was the opening where you are left in a room while a narrator provides you the storyline with cheesy elevator music playing in the background. It was a nice touch and in fact the sound throughout the trail was very solid.

I enjoyed my visit to the Haunt and for $10 going to a good cause, I’d go again without hesitation. The organizers work hard to give you more than your money’s worth in entertainment and have a show they can be proud of. Greta job on the haunt guys, and I hope you have a great season!
