The ScreamPark Haunted House in Lexington, Ky
September 23rd, 2009
The Grand Tour of Haunts continued tonight at ScreamPark in Lexington, Ky. Tyler and Ed have done a great job getting this Haunt ready for the season and I had a great time.Screampark actually has three different attractions – Insanity Chaos Attraction, Castle of Fear and Abyss. I started off with Insanity which is predominantly a chain link maze with plenty of fog, obstructions and solid acting. This is the most intense Haunt at the ScreamPark and the actors had good make-up and costumes along and scared with dialogue instead of just screaming at you which I liked. The nurse and patients were all giving it 100% tonight which made it a fun show. There was even some Haunter eye candy in the way of a prop from Pale Night Productions – Asylum Door.
Next I went in to Castle of Fear – a medieval castle themed Haunt. This one had some nice scenes and plenty of dark spaces to scare from. One of the actors even had a great english accent she used while begging for money in a very creepy way. The actor’s timing was pretty good throughout and once again they used dialogue instead of simply yelling. The graveyard scene looked nice and even had real dirt and some Sinister Scents to set the mood. Following the graveyard were some good-looking catacombs and a werewolf prop that totally got the two girls in front of me.
The last one for me was Abyss which is a dark maze. The obstructions they hung from the ceiling did a good job of distracting as I went through. The maze was a lot of fun and I heard more than one person explaining how scared they were inside.
I had a great time in the Haunts and went back through and took a bunch of pics so check them out below. Afterwards, I listened to customers leaving and they all gave it rave reviews. One said he was happy to see something like this in Lexington.
And talk about value…$15 gets you into all three attractions. They have definitely priced it to get people out to check out the newest haunted house in the area.
Ed and Tyler, I appreciate your hospitality. You can definitely be proud of the Haunts that you have built and I think you are in for a good season!
