After hitting Nightmare Haunted House in Lexington, I drove over to Louisville to visit the Baxter Avenue Morgue Haunted House on September 12th and it was worth the drive.

The haunted house was a little hard to find thanks to the street festival that blocked off the street I wanted to go down (apparently my GPS was not notified). When I got to the event, I saw the ground was littered with decaying corpses. Not sure if they were props, people or a combination I stepped gingerly over them. Shortly after that, Thriller began to play and at the appropriate part of the song, the corpses rose to their feet and began to do a great rendition of the Thriller Dance. Performed by the Terpsichore Dance Company, the show livened up the line as the crowd got into it. (read more)

On Sept 12th, I took advantage of the opening of Nightmare Haunted House for ScareFest (a Horror and Paranormal Convention).

I enjoyed meeting the owners and got to talk to Dean Stephens and his wife about the event they have been running for several years. Located in a light industrial park, Nightmare is contained in an old warehouse and is approximately 7,500 sq feet for the actual walkthrough. There is also a dark maze that is open during the regular season but wasn’t open tonight. (read more)

We had the chance to visit Land of Illusion on September 11, 2009 this year and had a blast. Based in Middletown, Ohio this isn’t just one Haunted House but actually four! The four different Haunted Attractions are:

Fort Worth, TX – Hangman’s House of Horrors joins with others across the globe on October 24, 2009 to perform the largest simultaneous dance around the world – Michael Jackson’s, “Thriller.” Hangman’s hopes to recruit over 500 volunteers to learn the Thrill the World version of “Thriller” and dress in their best “Zombie” at 7:30 p.m. that evening to dance. September 10, 2009 – Bristol/Southington, CT – The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce is proud to announce their partnership with the American Diabetes Association this year. The attraction will open Saturday October 2, and run weekends through the end of the month, and proceeds will benefit ADA. (read more)
